Clearwater Agritopia has been amazing for my parents. My dad was there two months before he passed from cancer. During that time, the staff was absolutely wonderful to him. So kind and caring. My mom entered the facility with my dad after she had a stroke. Her experience has been lovely as well. She benefits from all the activities (sit and be fit, lecture series, excursions, movies, etc.). The on-sight PT, OT, and speech therapy have been wonderful as well. The food is very good, and the facilities are beautiful. The administration has been wonderful and accommodating for our family's various needs. It has been a relief to know our parents have gotten the care they need in a loving place. We love Clearwater Agritopia!

Clearwater Agritopia truly made this past Mother’s Day magical for our family. After our amazing mom suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on April 14th, she spent time in the hospital and then a rehabilitation facility. Following her release, both of our parents moved into Clearwater Agritopia Assisted Living. Our large family has always come together to celebrate Mother’s Day at our parents’ home, so this year we were unsure how we’d honor that tradition. Clearwater Agritopia stepped in with incredible kindness and extra effort. Despite already hosting a large and elegant Mother's Day brunch for their residents, they graciously agreed to accommodate our entire family. Brian, the Culinary Director, extended the brunch hours and ensured there was enough delicious food for our group of 25. The food was phenomenal—from the prime rib to the “Marry Me Chicken,” garlic lemon parmesan broccoli, candied carrots, mascarpone mashed potatoes, and a wide array of desserts. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. As someone with celiac disease, I was especially grateful that Brian took extra steps to make sure I could safely enjoy almost everything on the buffet. That kind of care and consideration meant the world to me. For our event, we were given a large, beautifully arranged private dining room, allowing our entire family to sit together and honor our mother’s strength and her ongoing recovery. It was a truly special moment for all of us, made possible by the extraordinary team at Clearwater. I feel also need to add here that the Clearwater experience goes beyond just one day. In the weeks since my parents moved in, I’ve spoken with many residents, and every single one has shared how much they love living at Clearwater. Now, I understand why. Every staff member we’ve encountered—whether from dining, culinary, maintenance, housekeeping, healthcare, or administration—has been exceptionally kind, helpful, and professional. The amenities are outstanding: restaurant-style dining, a movie theater, art studio, gym, cozy gathering spaces, and regular social activities. Most importantly, my parents are supported and safe, with consistent management of their medications and help available at the touch of a button. Clearwater Agritopia has given our family peace of mind and a sense of home. They’ve created a warm, welcoming, and joyful environment where our parents can thrive—and for that, we are truly grateful.

If you’re considering Clearwater Agritopia for your loved one, please read this first. My heart breaks for the people who have to live at this property. There’s no excuse for the way this place is being run. This was my first experience finding care for a loved one, and I missed a lot of red flags simply because I didn’t know what to look for. I’m sharing our experience in hopes that it helps someone else avoid what we went through. Things I wish I knew to ask: •   Watch staff body language. Do they look compassionate and engaged, or just burned out and checked out? •   During your tour, does your guide greet the residents? Do the residents light up in return, or does it feel like a performance? •   Look at the residents. Do they seem happy? Content? Or just existing? •   Check the activity calendar. Are events actually happening? Is anyone attending? How many outings happen per week? (At Clearwater: almost none.) •   Ask how much time your loved one will spend in front of a TV. (Spoiler: a lot.) •   If you’re considering Signature Services, ask what access those residents have to the rest of the property. In our case, it was nearly none—just a weekly happy hour and no meaningful cognitive engagement the rest of the week. •   Visit during a meal. Is there any conversation happening? Are the servers warm and friendly—or robotic and indifferent? Our story: My loved one arrived at Clearwater Agritopia after a serious fall that resulted in broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. Prior to the fall, they were highly independent—traveling, volunteering, serving on boards. After a month in rehab, we were assured that Signature Services was the right fit and that they’d have access to the Assisted Living side as they improved. None of that turned out to be true. Signature Services was isolating and understimulating. The “activities” were limited to short rounds of bingo or word games. The rest of the time was spent sitting in front of a TV. Meals were brought from the main kitchen and were often cold. Hydration was limited to a single room-temperature water pitcher, often without cups. Despite obvious cognitive improvement, Clearwater refused to reassess my loved one’s status for over seven weeks. When I pushed for a new evaluation, they finally performed one—at 5:15 p.m., in another resident’s room, with that resident present, and the door open to the dining room during dinner. Aside from being a clear HIPAA violation, it felt like a setup. Thankfully, my loved one still did well on the assessment. Even after their personal doctor cleared them for Assisted Living, Clearwater claimed there were no available rooms. (One magically became available the day we submitted our 30-day notice.) That turned out to be a blessing in disguise—it forced us to look elsewhere, and only then did I realize how poor the care here really was. What stood out the most: •   Caregivers were unaware of injuries—they weren’t even entered into the system. •   No 30-day assessment was performed. Reassessment only happened after repeated family requests. •   Multiple HIPAA violations. •   Wrong medications were given. •   Requests for clarity on care-level charges were repeatedly ignored. •   Staff were often condescending, dismissive, and contradictory. •   I reached out to corporate twice and left messages, but no one ever returned my call. There was no effort made to address our concerns or offer support. •   There was a constant sense that residents were viewed as burdens—not the paying clients they are. I almost didn’t write this, but I felt a responsibility to share our story. Clearwater Agritopia did not treat my loved one—or our family—with the dignity or care we deserved. Please look closely before placing someone you love here. Ask hard questions. Watch how the residents are treated. And trust your gut.

This is a beautiful facility with a very caring staff. My mother loved living here and enjoyed visiting the nearby gardens and restaurants on her scooter. She made many friends in the facility, including many members of the staff. The professional management truly cares about their residents and the residents' families. They went the extra mile so many times for my mother and my family, making my mom's transition from her home comfortable and easy.
