I recently visited my aunt at the Gardens of Sun City, I have not been there in a while so walking in was a surprise to see all the updates they have done on the inside of the building.
I had lunch with my aunt and the food and service were on par with many of the local restaurants and was a great experience.
My aunt needed to speak with their head nurse while I was there and I found her very welcoming and easily approachable. She did a great job explaining the medication my aunt was asking her about.
The staff that provide care are very responsive to the call button, my aunt pressed her button twice while I was there and let me just tell you Patrick is one of the greatest assets that this facility has!! The staff member who brought my aunt her afternoon medications was very sweet, and my aunt told me her name was Shawna, she not only gave my aunt her medications she listed to my aunt tell her about me and actually seems interested in what she was being told even though I am sure she was very busy.
While I was there they had music downstairs for the residents. All of the residents I saw looked as if they were having a great time. One of the activities people the one who escorts the memory care folks, was dancing with all of the residents, and she seems to absolutely love her job. My aunt said that that staff member really makes every music time the best!
I would say that this facility seems to have wonderful caring staff and that the residents all seem to enjoy living there. I know my aunt says she will never leave!!!

When you walk into the building you are greeted by a cheerful smile and genuine warmth from the front desk.
I spoke with Hilary on the phone and when I met her in person I found her to be compassionate and knowledgeable in helping us find the right fit for our family.
While I was there I observed a meal going on in the main dining room, everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals, and each others company.
On the walk through the building is beautifully decorated and laid out. And I appreciated that the memory care unit was small with a limited amount of people It seemed to me as if a smaller intimate area is better for Residents with memory issues.
I met the memory care director Emily, and she was warm and you could see she really loved the residents. The staff on duty in memory care seemed to be on the ball, everyone was eating lunch and the staff were assisting residents with their meals and serving!
All of the staff that I saw on our walk through, seemed to be busy caring for people but they all greeted us warmly I felt very welcome.
We also got greeted by the executive Director Michelle and the Nurse, who I think was named Angela. They both seem to be very nice people who really care about their jobs.
We have not yet decided on a facility but based on our walk-through the Gardens Is in the top three

Walking in the door, you notice the renovation right away. New flooring lightens the atmosphere. The upgrades in the dining room give it a restaurant feel.
The receptionist Lina is knowledgeable and makes you feel comfortable right away.
From the front desk you can see the admin offices. I found the executive director Michelle to be warm and funny. She greeted me and made me feel as if she really loves her job.
The marketer Hilary will lay any apprehension you may have to rest as she explains what their scope of service is at this facility. She explained that they have 2 units, assisted living and memory care.
The front lobby is beautiful and the residents sitting there seemed to be at home in their surroundings.
There is an activity room on the second floor where they have bigger activities and it looked as if they were enjoying the bingo game they had going on at the time of my visit.
This community has a theater room and another activity room on the first floor. There is a salon that is open by appointment 2 days a week.
I had a peek into the memory care unit, and it is a very intimate small secured unit, I was told their capacity is 18 residents. They have a dedicated activity person and the resident seemed to be enjoying art time while I was there. The director in that unit is Emily, you could feel the passion for her job in every word she spoke.
As we left the memory care unit I was able to meet their nurse. She seemed to be warm and caring, with a positive attitude.
In the memory care unit I noticed 2 nursing staff and on the assisted living side I observed three more. They seem to be well staffed. Every staff member had a smile on their face and seemed like they were happy to be there.
All in all the staff at this facility seem to love what they do, and the residents all seem well cared for.
I observed housekeeping staff while I was there and they were cleaning common areas and rooms. I was told each room gets serviced once a week. I was also told that for a nominal fee the facility will also wash personal laundry, or the residents in assisted living are welcome to use the resident laundry room.
There is nothing bad to say about this facility, and in looking at their pricing sheet they seem to be at a fair market value for what they offer.
If I were in the market for a place for a spouse or aged parent The Gardens would be near the top of my list.

The memory care director, Emily, stood out as especially kind and engaged. It was clear they truly care about the residents and take pride in creating a supportive environment. This would be a great place for your loved one to be cared for.
